Madekwe comes from a multi-cultural household. She was born in South London. Madekwe is English but her father was Nigerian. She was born and raised on a council estate in the south of London. In the ages of 14she enrolled in The Brit School. She studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. While attending the school, she appeared in numerous stage productions including the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe launched her acting career through the film Storm Damage. She has appeared as an actor for Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film role was in Woody Allen's 2007 film Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. Following that success her role was Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN, and appeared in six episodes of Trexx and Flipside playing Ollie. In 2008, the actress was offered Bambi who was the leading character on ITV2's drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was a star in the comedy of 2008 How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Her theatre credits are Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams and Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009 with the thriller The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes before being cancelled on The CW. Ashley Davenport appeared in ABC drama Revenge from February 2011. Madekwe was a regular on the ABC drama series Revenge during two seasons. In May 2013 that she would be leaving the series following a guest episode in the very first episode of season three. In the TV series Salem, she played Tituba in 2014 through 2016. Madekwe was married to her long-time partner, Iddo. Alongside Secret Diary of a Call Girl they also appeared in tandem on Salem and also he played an appearance with her on that show.

Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actress who was raised in a big family. She was the daughter of Roy and Patty Leggat. Her parents Roy and Patty and her brothers Brett, Todd, and Bram and Bram, were present. Ashley's siblings, who are all sportsmen, played baseball in summers and played hockey in winters.
